Borderline Personality Disorder ( Bipolar Disorder )

Abstract According to the DSM IV four types of psychopathology describe Borderline Personality Disorder: affective disturbance, impulsivity, cognitive problems, and intense unstable relationships. Before diagnosis, Doctors must establish that patterns of affective instability, impulsivity, and unstable relationships have been consistent over time. Therefore, obtaining the patient’s detailed history is crucial. Many of the same features can be found in patients with Bipolar Disorder. Dysphorias, hyperactivity, impulsivity, and thoughts of suicide, are psychotic symptoms found in both disorders. Sadly, borderline patients with this cluster of symptoms are often misdiagnosed with bipolar disorder, and placed on psychopharmacological†¦show more content†¦Then in the late 1940s, Dr. Robert Knight introduced the concepts of ego psychology into his description of borderline disorder. Citing that ego psychology connects with the mental functions that enable us to realistically perceive events, resulting in the successful integration of our thoughts and feelings. This allows us to develop effective responses to life around us. He suggested that people with borderline disorder have severe impairments when trying to apply this concept to their day-to-day lives. Like many mental disorders, the cause of borderline personality disorder is not fully understood. Yet most experts would agree, the disorder results from a combination of factors. Some studies suggest that genetics, environment, along with brain abnormalities all play a contributing factor. Many medical professionals initially suggested that BPD overlapped with schizophrenia, non-schizophrenic psychoses, and neuroses such as anxiety and depressive disorders. Due to what appeared to be it’s overlap with so many other psychiatric diagnoses, it became known as a â€Å"wastebasket† diagnosis. Oliver Bonnington writes; because patients did not fall clearly into specific diagnostic category researchers believe testing lacked diagnostic precision and validity. It also was thought that the disorder responded very poorly to treatment. Yet modern day studies have shown differently. Embarrasing Moment Free Essays

My most embarrassing moment I consider myself to be one who doesn’t easily get embarrassed, but one of my most embarrassing moments happened this past summer. It all started when a few friends of mine decided that since it was incredibly hot out that summer day, that we should all go down to Tubbs hill for a swim. I’m not sure if you realize how busy downtown is during mid-summer season, but understand it’s almost always completely jammed full of people trying to fight off the blistering sun. We will write a custom essay sample on Embarrasing Moment or any similar topic only for you Order Now So my friends and I hiked up the path to get a good spot to start jumping off the rocks and start swimming, but all the great spots were all full. We decided to just find a close spot and just deal with all the people in the area. Our day progressed as normally as you’d expect, and everyone was enjoying the water and how refreshing it was fighting off the heat of the day. Eventually everyone was starting to get bored jumping off the smaller rocks as well as just swimming around, so my friends decided we should start jumping off the higher rocks. Eventually it came to my turn to jump and I went for it. As I dived into the water I didn’t realize at the time the sheer pressure on my swim shorts, but once I broke the surface of the water for air it struck me. I had lost my swim shorts on the dive, so I was sitting in the water completely nude in front of all my friends and random strangers that were watching. I franticly searched for my swim shorts, but to no avail, they were lost. Eventually a friend brought me a towel so I could get out of the water and return home. I would have to say that this was one of the most extremely embarrassing moments I’ve had so far in my lifetime. How to cite Embarrasing Moment, Papers

Affordable Care Act Essay Example For Students

Affordable Care Act Essay Outline1 Outline2 Introduction3 Background4 The Pros and Cons of the Affordable Care Act4.1 Pros4.2 Cons5 Conclusion Outline Introduction Body Background information Pros and Cons of the AffordableCare Act Conclusion Introduction Informally known as â€Å"Obamacare†, the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act was signed in by former president Barack Obama in March 2010. The aim of this act was to ensure health insurance coverage for more people in the U.S. by lowering costs for those who can not afford them. Since Obama signed the act into law, more than a dozen attorneys general has  brought lawsuits against it. It has been one of the most debated topics in the last few years.   Many American consumers and owners of small businesses have also criticized the law, regardless of the pre-existing condition. The consumers complain that health insurance premiums have increased because of the law, and they have lost their insurance coverage. The current administration is trying to repeal and replace this law, and there are some issues surrounding the Supreme Court decision. There are arguments for and against the Affordable  Care Act. In this free argumentative essay, we will try to explain those a rguments. Background The U.S. Congress  passed Obamacare on March 23, 2010. For years, the health care system in the U.S. had been plagued by numerous systemic problems. This act was a response to this situation. The main aim of the act was to ensure hospital  insurance coverage for all  and make health care facilities affordable. Because  many people in the U.S. are unable to bear their health care costs. For example, many drug addicts cannot  get out of the habit because they can not afford the cost of treatment. Whatever the pre-existing  condition is, they were in need of this act. The act has 900 pages, 10 separate titles and many provisions. After a few lawsuits have been settled, the act was upheld by the Supreme Court on June 28, 2012. And on January 1, 2014, the major provisions of the act became effective. The act has not been repealed yet because of the lack of sufficient bipartisan support. But it is expected that substantive changes will take place in the foreseeable future  because the new administration is committed to doing  so. Many small businesses support the view of the new government.   During his campaign, president Trump declared that the act should be repealed. To thoroughly understand the act, we must consider the pros and cons of the original act. The Pros and Cons of the Affordable Care Act Pros Affordable Care Act has a number of benefits and advantages, and they must be considered seriously before making changes. Most American healthcare consumers support the act  because they are enjoying some of the benefits. For the implementation of the law, the role of the Supreme Court was important. Many Americans are enjoying reasonably  prices  health insurance. Here are some good points about the Act: Many American healthcare consumers do not have insurance, and more than 50% of them can now obtain health insurance for free, or at a very low cost. The Affordable Care Act has introduced subsidies that make health insurance less costly. According to the 80/20 rule, a person spends 80% of his premium dollars on healthcare. The act gives healthcare consumers the right to appeal rapidly. No pre-existing  conditions apply. Up to the age 26, children can stay on the health insurance of their parents. Many uninsured young people were added. Because of this, insurance companies saw increased profits. Annual and lifetime coverage limits have been eliminated regardless of the pre-existing Every year, $1 million was contained by health insurance companies. According to The Affordable Care Act, 10 essential health benefits must be covered by all health insurance plans. These benefits include treatment for chronic diseases, addiction and mental health. These services have benefited many Americans who were unable to afford hospital This is one of the strongest topics raised by the supporters of the act. More private coverage options are available now, and minimum essential coverage is provided by major medical coverage options. According to the Congressional Budget Office, by 2022, the act will lower the budget deficit by $143 billion. It will do so by raising taxes on some businesses, reducing the government’s healthcare costs, and shifting cost burdens to pharmaceutical companies and healthcare providers. Your policy can no longer be canceled by health insurance companies just because there is a mistake on the application. There are numerous examples of such cancellations. You will not have to deal with pre-existing conditions or surprise cancellations. This act allows consumers to easily compare and purchase regulated and cost-assisted health plans. They can access these options through online health insurance marketplaces. Americans who are uninsured and under 138% of the poverty level are now covered by Medicaid. .ucde51e9a85c7e9031a19b3d33feb036a , .ucde51e9a85c7e9031a19b3d33feb036a .postImageUrl , .ucde51e9a85c7e9031a19b3d33feb036a .centered-text-area { min-height: 80px; position: relative; } .ucde51e9a85c7e9031a19b3d33feb036a , .ucde51e9a85c7e9031a19b3d33feb036a:hover , .ucde51e9a85c7e9031a19b3d33feb036a:visited , .ucde51e9a85c7e9031a19b3d33feb036a:active { border:0!important; } .ucde51e9a85c7e9031a19b3d33feb036a .clearfix:after { content: ""; display: table; clear: both; } .ucde51e9a85c7e9031a19b3d33feb036a { display: block; transition: background-color 250ms; webkit-transition: background-color 250ms; width: 100%; opacity: 1; transition: opacity 250ms; webkit-transition: opacity 250ms; background-color: #95A5A6; } .ucde51e9a85c7e9031a19b3d33feb036a:active , .ucde51e9a85c7e9031a19b3d33feb036a:hover { opacity: 1; transition: opacity 250ms; webkit-transition: opacity 250ms; background-color: #2C3E50; } .ucde51e9a85c7e9031a19b3d33feb036a .centered-text-area { width: 100%; position: relative ; } .ucde51e9a85c7e9031a19b3d33feb036a .ctaText { border-bottom: 0 solid #fff; color: #2980B9; font-size: 16px; font-weight: bold; margin: 0; padding: 0; text-decoration: underline; } .ucde51e9a85c7e9031a19b3d33feb036a .postTitle { color: #FFFFFF; font-size: 16px; font-weight: 600; margin: 0; padding: 0; width: 100%; } .ucde51e9a85c7e9031a19b3d33feb036a .ctaButton { background-color: #7F8C8D!important; color: #2980B9; border: none; border-radius: 3px; box-shadow: none; font-size: 14px; font-weight: bold; line-height: 26px; moz-border-radius: 3px; text-align: center; text-decoration: none; text-shadow: none; width: 80px; min-height: 80px; background: url(https://artscolumbia.org/wp-content/plugins/intelly-related-posts/assets/images/simple-arrow.png)no-repeat; position: absolute; right: 0; top: 0; } .ucde51e9a85c7e9031a19b3d33feb036a:hover .ctaButton { background-color: #34495E!important; } .ucde51e9a85c7e9031a19b3d33feb036a .centered-text { display: table; height: 80px; padding-left : 18px; top: 0; } .ucde51e9a85c7e9031a19b3d33feb036a .ucde51e9a85c7e9031a19b3d33feb036a-content { display: table-cell; margin: 0; padding: 0; padding-right: 108px; position: relative; vertical-align: middle; width: 100%; } .ucde51e9a85c7e9031a19b3d33feb036a:after { content: ""; display: block; clear: both; } READ: Advertising English EssayCons Although millions of Americans have benefited from the Affordable Care Act, the act has some disadvantages. Here are some of the challenges and issues that the act faces: The first disadvantage of the Affordable Care Act is that it has not been able to decrease the cost for everyone. Because of not complying with Obamacare, many private plans have been canceled. Some people had to shop for new health insurances and pay more. About five million people had employment-based health insurance, and they have lost the insurance. Many small businesses are dissatisfied because their employees can no longer buy health insurance plans on the exchanges. For some small businesses, state-run exchanges are better. Millions of people used to rely on private health insurance and did not have company plans. The Affordable Care Act’s 10 essential benefits were not covered by many health insurance company’s policies, and they had to cancel their plans. Many companies lost cut-rate plans, and they could not be replaced because of the high cost. 4 million people did not want to pay for coverage; they chose to pay the tax. They paid $54 billion, according to estimates by the Congressional Budget Office. Many people did not purchase insurance, but the Affordable Care Act taxed those people. And many of those people used exemptions and avoided the tax. Since 2013, 2.3% excise tax was paid by the manufacturers and importers of the medical 10% excise tax was paid by indoor tanning services. Those businesses showed less interest in hiring new employees because they were discouraged. Overall healthcare costs in fact increased for some time, because of the increased coverage. The main reason for the rise is that illnesses ignored for decades were expensive to treat. People who are against the healthcare policy are also scrutinizing the cost of premiums, which is increasing rapidly. The main reason for the rise is the lack of competition in the marketplace. Critics also think that the costs are not being distributed fairly because there is an imbalance between the number of ill people covered by the insurance and those in good health. Conclusion In the last several years, the U.S. healthcare industry has been affected by the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act. Many state attorneys-general have challenged it. On January 1, 2014, in line with the pre-existing  condition, the major provisions went into effect. But prior to that date, some changes were implemented. Analysts think that in the foreseeable future, more changes will be needed. But most probably it will remain the law of the land  because the Republicans do not seem to be focusing on developing a superior and viable alternative.

17 Creative Ways to Celebrate a College Birthday

17 Creative Ways to Celebrate a College Birthday Celebrating a birthday is a great chance to take a break from the usual rigors of college life. Of course, planning a birthday celebration might seem time-consuming or expensive, but it doesnt have to be. Even in the smallest of college towns, there are probably plenty of events you can turn into a birthday outing (that dont include the traditional group outing to a restaurant). Here are some ideas that can work with a variety of schedules and budgets. 1. Go to a Museum Youre in college and its your birthday - be as nerdy as you want. Head to an art museum, a museum of natural history, a local aquarium or whatever youll find most enjoyable. Museums can be a great way to take a break from the chaos of college while still doing something interesting and engaging. (Remember to bring your ID ask about a student discount.) 2. Attend (or Participate in) a Poetry Slam Whether you just want to watch or are interested in performing, poetry slams can be a lot of fun. See whats happening on your campus or in your community and enjoy a fun evening out that promises to be a one-of-a-kind experience. 3. Do Something Physical If you want to do something physical for your birthday, get creative. See if a local gym offers special classes, like aerial yoga or a ropes course you can do with your friends. Some community organizations also offer really zany classes, like bungee jumping, skydiving or even circus-training classes. Given how much you sit in class and study all day, pushing your body to its limits can be a great way to celebrate getting older. 4. Go to the Movies Catching up on the latest movies can be a fun way to spend an afternoon - or even a morning. Mix things up a bit and grab breakfast and a movie with some friends to start your birthday off in a fun, nontraditional, but still enjoyable way. 5. Head to an Athletic Game It could be a hockey game in your college town, a football game on your campus or something small like your friends intramural rugby game. Regardless, rooting for your team and hanging out with a large crowd just might be what you need for a birthday celebration. Treat yourself to something from the concession stand or pack snacks to give the event a more celebratory feel. 6. Celebrate With Some Time Alone College is fun, but there arent t a lot of opportunities to enjoy solitude. Doing something quiet - whether its on campus or away - like getting a massage, going for a long run or meditating can be rejuvenating, if not downright healthy for you. 7. Treat Yourself to Some Self-Care   Students spend a lot of time focusing on external things - class requirements, jobs, cocurricular obligations - and they sometimes forget to focus a little on themselves. Treat yourself to something that focuses on you for a change, like a pedicure and a wax or a haircut and a shave. You can even call ahead to see if your friends can make appointments with you. 8. Head Out for a Brewery Tour If youre over 21 (or turning 21), consider going on a brewery or distillery tour. In addition to learning all kinds of interesting facts about how beverages are made, youll get some free samples and enjoy an afternoon doing something that you might otherwise not have done. 9. Get a Behind-the-Scenes Look at Your Favorite Local Destination Not everyone knows that, for example, you can get a tour of major league baseball stadiums or the local zoo. See whats open during your birthday and what you can arrange in advance. 10. Go Home   Theres nothing wrong with ditching your hectic campus life and heading home for your own bed, your familys home cooking and some good ol RR. You work hard in college and treating yourself to the luxuries of home, however simple they may be, is a great way to reward yourself. 11. Do Something Quiet on Campus Planning an off-campus adventure can be stressful - not what you need on your birthday. Dont be shy about spending some quiet time on campus, going for a walk or run, journaling or hanging out in a coffee shop. 12. Do Something Romantic With Your Partner If youre dating and your partner is around, try to spend the day doing something romantic together. Sure, heading out to dinner is nice, but dont be afraid to mix it up a little, too. Head to a nearby town and go exploring. Do something new youve never done together. Make a scavenger hunt for each other. No matter what you end up doing, just enjoy each others company. 13. Celebrate at a Big Campus Party So the biggest fraternity on campus is throwing their biggest party of the year smack dab on your birthday. Just because they didnt plan it that way doesnt mean you cant take advantage of the situation. Let everyone elses hard work be your  birthday gift! 14. Spend Some Quality Time With a Few Good Friends Many people make lifelong friends in college. If you already know who these people are going to be, get em together and do something simple but enjoyable. Plan a picnic, go for a hike, coordinate a game night or spend time doing something creative together. 15. Volunteer Off Campus   Think about how you feel after you volunteer. You always finish feeling amazing, proud, humbled, energized and overall awesome, right? Well, why not treat yourself to that rock-star feeling on your birthday? Grab some friends and find a place to volunteer where you can work together and support a great cause. 16. Dont Do Any Homework You have 364 other days to focus on homework. Plan your time wisely in advance so that you dont have to do any homework on your birthday. After all, when was the last time you didnt even think about reading, writing a paper, doing a lab report or researching a project? If you plan well enough in advance, you can enjoy the day by letting your brain not even think (or feel guilty!) about completely avoiding your homework situation. 17. Do Something Creative You can easily fall into the routine of only producing creative pieces when you need to for a class or club requirement. On your birthday, however, treat yourself to doing something creative just for the sake of being creative.

All these measures should be implemented to ensure the security of all the resources within the organization. Organizations nowadays have greatly relied on the various network technologies that ensure efficient data communications between different departments, at the same time ensuring that communication channels are secure. The expansion of an organization results into more resources being acquired in terms of new computers, printers, telephones, communication channels, hardwares and software’s and also the adoption of sophisticated network architectures. This results into an increased concern for information security within the organization to ensure that only the authorized personnel access the resources. Quest ion 1. The question describes the main security issues, the principles of public key encryption, and the role of certification authority as follows: Security issues facing the expansion of the organization Expansion of the organization will result into a rise in the demand of various resources. More hardware and software will be acquired, more people will be employed, and the network architecture to be used and various protocols will change to meet the organizational needs. Various security issues will arise; in physical security, all the tangible assets within the organization such as computers (both personal and laptops), network printers, telephones, storage media, people, network cables, and servers will face a security threat. Indeed, each of the organizations assets faces a security threat from within (internal) and from outside the organization (external). Security issues that will arise from within the organization (internal attacks) include access attacks such as eavesdropp ing (listening to a conversation that one is not part of) by fellow employees or through wireless networks, and snooping (looking through information files). Others include interception of transit information, unauthorized access to computers by employees, computer attacks by viruses, worms, Trojans, internal hackers and theft of hardware from within the organization (Maiwald, 2003). External attacks include hackers and cyber terrorists, and malware. The organization needs to address the measures that will be used to ensure security of both information, physical hardware, internal and external attacks are checked. Internal threats from employees are both intentional and accidental, where an employee can eavesdrop on another employee, hence gaining access to some information during conversation. In addition, employees can forge passwords of their colleagues and hence gain access to their computers, use, modify, and transfer information to other unauthorized members outside the organi zation. Moreover, employees may bring external or foreign insecure hardware into the organization, resulting into virus infection and transmission. Lastly, employees could steal portable small size hardwares from the organization. Information and communication within the organization will be affected in one way or another. There might be lots of network traffic caused by attacks on

Steps in a case study method Essay Example for Free

Steps in a case study method Essay All studies require that a research problem be identified and stated, and must be simple, concise, and in clear terms. Such problem will be the focus of a case study. IDENTIFY THE PROBLEM OF THE STUDY The General and specific objectives of the study must be categorically expressed. Such objectives will be the bases in conducting research activities. State the Objectives of the Study The research must identify his sources of data or information, how he is going to select his sources, what variables are to be included and excluded, and how these variables are to be selected  or determined. Determine the Sources of Data The researcher should identify the procedures of data gathering, the tools used in data gathering so that the researcher will be able to proceed smoothly with the research activities according to the time frame of the study. Determine the Procedures of Investigation After gathering the data, they are collated, arranged, and presented for easy analysis and interpretation. Collate, Analyze, and Interpret the Data 1. The researcher may select convenient cases, which are not typical for a case study. 2. The researcher may find difficulty  selecting the factors to be studied due to different environmental settings and sampling sizes. Limitations or Weaknesses of Case Study Method 3. Hypotheses cannot be tested due to small sampling size and limited number of variables. 4. Reliable and genuine data may not be obtained in some case studies due to limited primary sources. Experimental Methods of Research 1. To test the external validity of a laboratory ndings. 2. To improve conditions under which people live and work. Several Reasons For Conducting Experiments in a Natural Setting: Experiment also Involves†¦Ã¢â‚¬ ¦. Manipulation of One or More Variables which includes the: -Independent Variable -Dependent Variable Internal Validity -Reliabililty -Sensitivity -External Validity Characteristics of a Good Experiment -if the cause and e+ect is interpretable, that is by manipulating the independent variable, it can cause a change in dependent variable. Internal Validity An experiment is reliable if the obtained di+erence is likely to be found again and if the experiment is to be repeated. Reliability -an experiment is sensitive if such experiment is likely to detect the e+ect  of an independent variable even when that e+ect is a small one. Sensitivity -if the ndings can be generalized to individuals, settings, and conditions beyond the scope of the particular experiment. External Validity To provide empirical tests of hypotheses derived from theories. -experiments can be used to test the e+ectiveness of treatments and program. America Must Censor Internet Pornography :: Pornography Censorship

Since their founding, computers and the Internet have become a tool that nearly every man, woman, and child in the World have been able to use. E-mail has become one of the Worlds fastest growing ways of communication and the Internet has become one, if not the largest source of information available today. You can find just about everything you wanted to know about anything with the stroke of a few keys on the keyboard. However, along with these positive aspects of the Internet, there lies much negativity surrounding the internet and its use. Access to teenage pornography, bestiality, brutal murder pictures, XXX stories, and other un-ethical sites is extremely easy. In fact, the pornography industry has grown 63% since the Internet was first available for use.(Bishop 91) It is one of the leading industries on the Internet and has become quite a controversy in the United States. Censorship of such sites has done very little due to the fact that most parents feel that these sit es are not accessed by their children. We have currently found no solution that has worked and many government officials see the problem only getting worse. Pornography on the Internet though should not be banned, but rather better controlled and censored due to its availability and graphic nature. Pornography on the Internet is available in different formats. These range from pictures and short animated movies, to sound files and stories. Most of this kind of pornographic content is available through World Wide Web pages. The Internet also makes it possible to discuss sex, see live sex acts, and arrange sexual activities from computer screens. There are also sex related discussions on the Internet Relay Chat channels where users in small groups or in private channels exchange messages and files.(Akdenis, 1997) There are millions of different pornographic sites on the internet, so there is almost no way of regulating every site unless there was some type of a universal censorship required for every site. Nearly every one of these millions and millions of sites is accessed daily. Men, women, and children of every age and race are on the Internet looking at inappropriate sites every day. Over 2/3 of Americans who have access to the Internet have accessed pornographic or o ther un-ethical sites, and the numbers are only growing.

Inquiring Minds Want to Know Essay

Abstract This paper defines Penton Media’s sampling plan and research design for their study on if their reader service cards are still successful in getting buyer’s attentions. There are five questions that develop the sampling plan and Penton Media’s answers to these questions are described in this paper along with the strengths and weaknesses of their decisions. Their research design is also explained in the eight categories given. Finally, the strengths and weaknesses of their research design are given. Case Assignment 2 Penton Media has designed a research study to determine if the reader service cards are still a sustainable form of bringing in customers. Penton Media came up with a sampling plan in order answer this research plan. Their sampling plan answered five questions and has both strengths and weaknesses. They also formulated a research design, which includes eight categories of options to answer their research question. Their research design also includes strengths and weaknesses, and these will be further examined in this paper. Sampling Plan According to Cooper and Schindler (2014), the sampling plan includes five questions. These questions include (p. 344): What is the target population? What are the parameters of interest? What is the sampling frame? What is the appropriate sampling method? What size sample is needed? Once you have answered all these questions, you can determine the appropriate sampling design for your study. Penton Media has created their sampling plan from these questions. The target population for Penton Media’s study is the people who read their  business magazines. Their subscribers consist of 1.7 mission people in the US, so they originally tested out the survey via phone with a small selection of subscribers. They then sent out a second preliminary survey to 300 subscribers. From the first and second surveys, they construed a final survey and mailed it out to 4,000 of their business subscribers. From the total number of surveys sent out, they received 710 completed surveys. The parameters of interest in this study include the readers who are actually buyers for their company. Penton Media only chose to use the surveys from subscribers actually doing purchasing activities, so this would be considered a non-probability based sampling study. According to the case study presented by Cooper and Schindler (2014), â€Å"The survey sample was constructed using stratified disproportionate random sampling with subscribers considered as belonging to one of 42 cells (seven industry groups by six job titles)†. Strengths The strengths with Penton Media’s sampling plan include the parameters of interest and sampling frame. Their parameters of interest focus on the group of readers whose job is to buy for their company. Since this group of people directly match who they should be targeting, Penton Media is on the right track. Their sampling frame is also precise because it narrowed their list of people to send out the surveys to people working in the business fields as decision makers. Weaknesses The weakness of this study is the sample size. Penton Media chose to only send out 4,000 surveys when they actually have 1.7 million readers. This size seems small since only a little over 17% of the surveyor’s returned the survey. Sample size should be a representation of the whole, and .04% of the population isn’t a great representation. Research Design Several options are available to researchers when deciding with their research design will be. They include exploratory or formal studies, type of data gathering, extent of control, purpose, time frame, scope, environment, and perception. A researcher should ponder these options before designing their study. Penton Media was deliberate in their choices and based their answers to research design options on their research question. A formal study was designed to provide the answer to directly answer their research question. For data gathering, a communication study was used in the form of a survey. Ex post facto extent of control was used since Penton Media can’t change the results and have to report the results they receive. The purpose was chosen as a reporting study as they are compiling data and providing a summary of the survey results. This study’s time frame is cross-sectional with a survey being sent out once for the formal results. The topical scope is statistical because it wants to compare characteristics and draw conclusions. Field conditions were used in this study because there is no change in the surveyor’s environment. Finally, the participant’s perceptions are not changed and they are aware of the research being conducted. Strengths The strength of this study is in the ex post facto design where Penton Media has to report from the survey results. There is no way that Penton Media can change or modify the results so this makes the research more reliable and dependable. Another strength is that the participant’s environment and perceptions aren’t changed or affected. This makes for more honest and trustworthy results. Weaknesses A communication study is great for the research question that Penton Media is trying to answer. However, they could also get more data from their advertisers. Since many companies keep a record of how a customer finds out about their company, it would be worthwhile to also get statistics from them. This would complete the study and bring more results to complete the research question. Conclusion Penton Media has made some good decisions regarding their sampling plan and research design. They have answered the five questions to determine how they should set up their sample and made good decisions on target population, parameters of interest, sampling frame and method. However, they should have chosen a large sample size to represent the population.  Penton Media also made good choices in their research design. Their choice of a formal, communication, reporting, statistical study with ex post factor design, cross-sectional time frame, field conditions and unchanged perceptions are key to their success. Sampling plan and research design are key and Penton Media certainly made good decisions for their study. References Cooper, Donald R. and Schindler, Pamela S. Business Research Methods. Final research HND Business Essay

Executive Summary Of Research on Basant or Spring Festival Event for the research was decided as â€Å"Basant or Spring Festival Lahore†. Basant was started 1300-1400 hundred century. But in near past the event was become controversial. Some religious activist called it Hinduism while some people in taking lead in kite-flying start taking lives of people and this activity was banned. Its was business event too and contributing national income. Was a beneficial for hotel and food industry etc. Our research was too found out the reasons for banning it. The beneficiaries of the festival and out put from the event and Myths regarding the events as well as give some recommendation. For the purpose a detailed proposal were made and presented to supervisor after approval of the proposal. Work was started on research. Literature was reviewed for facts finding. A questionnaire were made and distributed in 500 people and collected, interviews were conducted from different stake holders and other techniques of data collection were applied. Data were organized and presented in percentage and graphically. Analysis was made. The research findings were that basant or spring festival is better business activity accepted people of the country and encouraged by the business community. Basant has nothing with religion. It is celebrated with seasonal change. Some religious groups are against it because of the immoral & un-ethical musical and dance shows during the festival. Some people use alcohol in public places and commit crime these should be stopped. Kite-flying with harmful wires should be banned as it takes lives as well as damages electricity lines etc. The events mainly benefits hotel, food, garments, transport, music, traitor industry and overall positively affect the market of Lahore. Government can provide better law & order situation too public and Lahore is feasible in security prospective for spring festival. Literature Review Of Basant or Spring Festival Basant is centuries old cultural festival of Punjab. It was started in 1300-1400 century. But in near past got controversial as the some religious groups called it sign of Hinduism and show zero tolerance over it. According to Dr.B.S. Nijjar’s book, â€Å"Punjab under the Later Mughals†. According to him, when Zakariya Khan (1707-1759) was the governor of Punjab, a Hindu of Sialkot, by the name of Hakeekat Rai Bakhmal Puri spoke words of disrespect for the Prophet Muhammad (saw) and his daughter Fatima (ra). He was arrested and sent to Lahore to await trial. The non-Muslim population was stirred to request Zakariya Khan to lift the death sentence given to Hakeekat Rai but he did not accede to their request. Eventually the death penalty was carried out and the entire non-Muslim population went into mourning. As a tribute to his memory, a prosperous Hindu, Kalu Ram initiated the Basant ‘mela’ in (Marrhi) Kot Khwaja Saeed (Khoje Shahi) in Lahore. (This place is now known as Baway di marrhi.) It is the last stop on the route of Wagon no.60 from Bhati Gate. Dr. B.S. Nijjar states on Page no. 279 of his book that the Basant ‘mela’ is celebrated in memory of Hakeekat Rai. Another myth about Basant is â€Å"It is said that Nizamuddin Auliya had no children. He had adopted his nephew who died at the age of 20. Amir Khusro tried to cheer the bereaved Nizamuddin, but in vain. One day while Amir Khusro was walking in the fields, he saw some young women dressed in yellow clothes and celebrating Basant. Khusro donned a yellow ghagra ad covered himself with a chunni and sang the qawwali — Sakal basant aayo ri. Seeing he dressed in yellow clothes, Nizamuddin became cheerful. † But majority of the society consider all the as myth and has opinion that It is a seasonal festival of indo-Pak and has no religious aspects. It is celebrated at spring on starting of winter on fourth or fifth day of lunar month (Magh). Yellow is mainly used for basant as its is narrated for wheat grow and mustard blossoms in the seasons. Yellow color is considered as the  color of Spring. Yellow outfits are worn in these days mostly. In pre-partition India Hindus, Muslims and Sikhs all celebrated Basant. Basant festivals held in all major cities of Punjab. Yellow clothes were worn; men wore yellow turbans and women yellow dupattas and saris. It was common to sway swings among Hindu, Muslim and Sikh women together and Basant’s traditional songs were sung that reflected the liveliness and romance of life in Punjab. Kite flying was common but on a small scale with decency. Kite flying is also part of the festival. Most of kite flyers are illiterate and labor class. They mostly use unethical ways for winning kites competition which leads to deaths of valuable lives. This factor decrease the color of this great festival from last 50 Years and the slogan is shouting. Celebrate Basant- but don’t snatch away lives. The starting position Essay Example The starting position Essay The starting position Essay The test for improvement over two weeks. Through the period of the first two weeks I have been working on general fitness and also agility training a good test to examine the progress would be the Illinois it tests speed at the beginning agility in the middle and speed at the end. Week Three Aim: For much of this the aim is to improve the muscle, which are situated in the leg area. Doing a varied amount of exercise at different reps should accomplice this. The Calves, quads, hamstrings and groin are all used in the running, jumping twisting and turning that are done on the court. Improving the strength in these areas will benefit your game. Day 1: Calves Holding dumb-bells in each hand, with feet pointing forward shoulder width apart, go up on to your toes staying balanced and return to the ground. Do this repetitively doing ten reps at a time holding for 5 seconds each time.Day2: Quads A way working the quads is to do leg extensions. Make sure that the seat of the leg extension machine is in the correct position, with your knee joint parallel with the lower hinge of the machine, and that you are comfortable. Starting with legs bent, straighten them until they are fully extended out in front of you. Hold here for a couple of seconds then return to starting position. Day 3: Hamstrings The hamstrings, the muscle in the back of your thigh are the best worked with a leg curl machine.
